Andrea Fraser is an artist whose work critically examines art institutions and cultural fields. Her books include Museum Highlights: The Writings of Andrea Fraser (MIT Press, 2005), Texts, Scripts, Transcripts (Walter Koenig, 2013); Andrea Fraser (Hatje Cantz, 2015); and 2016 in Museums, Money, and Politics (CCA Watts Institute, Westreich/Wagner Publications, MIT Press, 2018). Retrospectives of her work have been presented by the Museum Ludwig Cologne (2013), the Museum der Moderne Salzburg (2015), the Museum of Contemporary Art Barcelona, and MUAC UNAM Mexico City (2016). She is Professor, Interdisciplinary Studio Area Head, and Chair of the Department of Art at the University of California Los Angeles. She serves as the board president of Working Artists and the Greater Economy (WAGE); as a member of the Hammer Museum Artist Council; and on the board and the Artists Council of the Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. She is a graduate of the AKRI Training and Certification program.
